Lace Nonsurgical Hair Replacement Systems - Wave of the Future? |
Lace Systems - Wave of the Future?
Lace
systems have long been available for hair system wearers, as far back as the 1950s.
If you've been looking into hair systems for a while, you've probably heard of them as the
type that TV & movie stars such as William Shatner, Burt Reynolds, and Sean Connery
have been wearing for years, yet they have only recently become more commonly available to
the average hair system wearer.
What's so great about lace? I'm sure you're familiar with the typical image of the standard system. Even one with good color matching and natural styling typically has one giveaway -- NO hairline. The hair is always combed over the hairline so that nobody can see, because if they did it would be easy to tell there was a hair system there. This is wear lace front systems come into play.
Lace systems use an extremely fine, flesh toned lace as the base of the unit. Because the lace is so fine and colored like your natural skin, unless you put your eyes right up to the hairline and look for it, it's extremely difficult to tell it's there. This means you can expose the hairline and even have the hair combed straight back. In short, as long as the color match is good and people don't go running their hands through your hair, you've got a pretty much undetectable system.

What about swimming & rainy days? Long a plague of hair system wearers, the latest attachment techniques make those problems a thing of the past. There are many attachments that can be used that allow you to take the system off anywhere from every day to every month or two, and the tapes & bonds used today do not let the system come off on a windy day or when you go swimming.
As we said earlier, this kind of system has been around for a long time. It has only recently become available at a price most people can afford, and you can now get them for around the cost buying one or two units each year cost before now.

"Wait" you're saying. This story is too positive. There's got to be something wrong here! Well, there are a few caveats! In particular, lace systems are more delicate and less sturdy than the older style hair system, so they will require replacement more frequently, typically anywhere from every 2-4 months, depending on how active your lifestyle is. It's important to make sure you'll be able to get new systems as needed without a big investment. Fortunately, most local hair system salons are moving towards programs where you pay a monthly fee and either get a new system whenever one wears out or a certain number per year at no extra charge. Just keep this in mind and be sure to ask what the policy is on getting new systems before jumping in.
Other than that, the main concerns are the same as when you were getting an older hair system:
1) Finding a good place where you will be treated right. Ask as many questions as possible about things like what happens if after the first day you decide it's not for you, is there any kind of long term commitment or contract, hidden fees, policies if you're unhappy with their service, etc.
2) Comfort - wearing something tightly attached to your head always causes comfort issues which may lead some to not want a hair system.
3) Paranoia - Some people are just plain paranoid about who might know they have a hair system, no matter how good their system is. If you think this might be you, a hair system probably isn't for you.
Keep these last things in mind. If you find a good place and comfort and paranoia are not an issue for you, a lace system may be just the thing you need.
