Ive been using Xandrox 5% for several years now. Have been happy with it maintaining my current hair. I use LLLT now also. Have been trying to get some regrowth in the crown area which has been very slowly thinning. Has anyone been on the Minoxidil with finasteride topical in it. Is it worht a try? Anyone with results that used plain 5 % minoxidil for several years then added the minoxidil with topical finasteride? Does the topical finasteride have the same side effects as finasteride oral? I could not take the Propecia, had sexual side effects and aching balls. Will the topical do the same or less likely because it is just being put on your head?Like to hear your opinions before I try it.

Been using Minoxidil solutions, in conjunction with oral Finasteride, since Feb. 2001with excellent results.

Approx. 2 years ago I started using Dr. Klein's Promox. My results have improved somewhat since I switched to Promox. Not so much in terms of new growth, but in terms of thickening of existing hair.

As far as side effects go, really can't say, because I never had adverse side effects from oral Finasteride, and when I added topical Finasteride to the oral, didn't have sides either.

Whatever your case is, the chances from sides form topical Finasteride vs. oral would be less because there would be less systemic absorption from the topical!

Who will prescribe topical finasteride to a woman in New York? I neew a DHT blocker quick! I am on Spectral DNC right now with minimal results. It makes my scalp dry, but i have no other solution right now. How about topical progesterone?

carz:

As per my message, Dr. Klein {btw his office is in NY] and Dr. Lee. Also, Dr. Klein's Promox contains Progesterone too.

romio1982:

Yes, still on oral Finasteride. You get much better systemic absorption with oral and since I've had no adverse side effects of any kind whatsover, coupled with excellent resuls, why should I stop!

Sandman,

Can you quantify your results, such as what kind of Norwood reduction you gotten or more hairs per square inch etc.? Or just a give a good description of your results?

Prior to starting treatment, I had some general thinning throughout the mid top area of my scalp, some mild temporal recession, the right side more then the left, with no hairloss in the vertex.

My hair has thickened/regrown very nicely throughout the top. The temporal areas have thickened/regrown as well, but not as extensively as the top!

My right temple point above my ear is more damaged then the left. Could this be due to holding ones cell phone on a certain side of the head? EMF does have an effect, but never thought about hair until I noticed my situation. Anyone else notice something similar?

My theory on temple hair loss asymmetry is that side you sleep on the most is the worst. It is true in my case.

If you take a close look at old pictures of yourself, prior to any hairloss, many people will find that one side of the temple area has a different hairline then the other. In my case the right side has always been higher then the left.

I just looked at my old photos. Unfortunately I could not find one with both temples showing as a teenager or young adult before hair loss. I did find a few when I was between 6 and 10 years old and the temples were pretty even. No real temples to speak of and no asymmetry that I could see. Damn my childhood hairline was awesome.
