There have been several posts in the past about www.unitedpharmacies.com being closed. I sent them a mail about this and they promptly replied saying they are open as usual but had been having some troubles with emails, spam etc....No worries about ordering from them.

Well, I have been ordering my generic dutasteride from them for going on 4yrs. I'm sure they are legit. Either that or the placebo effect is doing wonders for my hair all these years! LOL!

glad to hear. I plan on adding some proscar to half a bottle of apple poly and filling the rest with alcohol to dissolve the finasteride in and add an extra polyphenol capsule. Both apple polyphenols and finasteride are soluble in alcohol and thought is could be a good combination. I might use Spectral DNC in the mornings and applepoly/finasteride in the evenings after dermarolling. Lasering Monday, Friday, and the following Wednesday to avoid too much dosing. I want to shake my current regimen up a bit so I can get back into treating my hairloss with vigor. I've been taking a break these last few months and I feel this could get me excited once again.

Just wondering why the dose for avadart is only .5mg while proscar is 5mg. Both are meant for BPH and am thinking dutasteride must be much more effective at blocking type 2 alpha reductase sites. Finasteride is said to block more type 1 sites which are abundant in the sebaceous glands while type 2 is more abundant on the dermal papilla. Just wondering how much avadart I should add to my topical if I decide to buy it instead of fin. I might add both, a few 5mg pills of in and one .5mg of dut for total coverage.

Actually Finasteride only blocks DHT type 2 by almost 50% (at 5mgs- Proscar) and slightly affects DHT 1. Avodart blocks 70% of DHT 2 and also greatly affects DHT 1 but I am not sure of that percentage. I have a graph I will find and post it here to clarify this.

k, thanks Goa'uld.

Is there a certain time of the day that is optimal to take fin/dut? mornings vs nights? Also, would it be ideal to take Spectral DNC in the evening vs morning if I am only gonna use it once a day along with the apple poly/finasteride topical at the other time? Or the other way around. Just trying to figure when would be best to use minox and when to use fin because I'm not gonna take them at the same time of the day. I'm thinking of using applepoly/fin in the morning because of the topicals consistency and getting fin in my body first thing in the morning and allowing it to circulate because I think dht production would be higher during waking hours. I emailed applepoly about adding more alcohol to the mix so i could drop some finasteride into it and they said the original japanese clinical trial had 70% alcohol, which would help with penetration as apple polyphenols are soluble in alcohol along with fin. I plan on dermarolling each morning. Spectral in the evening would limit it getting wet due to rain and sweating during my workouts and take away worry.

Well as far as Fin is concerned you can take it anytime it does not matter as far as effectiveness but just make it a part of the day that you do remember to take it. I have heard people say DHT levels are higher at night but never bought into that and take mine first thing in the AM so I will remember. With the Spectral I would use it at night myself due to not having the "wet head" look during the day and as you said it would eliminate sweating, rain and other undesireable things to occur. You are on the right track IMO and I wish you success. i will dig up my old graph that shows the difference with Fin and Dut and post it but it will take me a day to find it. Best of luck to you and remember to take pics and keep us posted on your progress.

I may have quoted my percetages a little wrong because I found this but they are in our favor. This is not the graph but a brief explanation of Fin and Dut.

"Finasteride specifically blocks type-II 5-alpha reductase, which is the most common form and hence Finasteride is believed to be approximately 70% affective in its action. There is now also a new 5-alpha reductase inhibitor called Dutasteride, it blocks both Type-I and Type-II 5-alpha reductase and is believed to be about 90% effective."

But what's the long term impact of nearly eliminating this from your body...it may be bad for hair, but Type II alpha reductase is used by other organs in your body, including your brain. I don't want to be a fear mongerer, but is saving your hair worth risking an unknown future ailment.

You bring up a very valid point MJ but unfortunately there are not too many studies on that.

Well....I myself have taken Proscar 5mg for 14 yrs. I switched to Dutasteride about 5 yrs ago. So in total, about 19yrs.

In that time, I fathered to healthy kids, one boy , one girl. My acne which has been really bad all my life along with greasy skin totally cleared up. I have about half the body hair I used to have before I started treatment, and I find that I can lift more at the gym. Only negative side effect that I am aware of was a little groin ache the first few years. But that gradually went away. And with regards to my package, A-OK!

For me finisteride/dutasteride has done me good in both the short and long term.

I personally have only used generics by either of Dr. Reddy's and/or Cipla coming out of India.

Both are big and respected companies and both trade on the NYSE.
